Read more about SciGlass features

Below, main features of the SciGlass Web are described. For more information about more functional Stand-alone version see here.

  • Glass Properties.
Over 1,500,000 property values in 70 property categories with concise descriptions of experimental procedures and references.
  • Glasses.
Over 314,000 glasses and melts are available, including about 230,000 oxide glasses and melts, 14,000 halide and 28,000 chalcogenide glasses.
  • Optical spectra.
Over 9,000 optical spectra (from UV to near IR) for glasses and melts. To see them, select Optical Spectra in the Tables search interface.
  • Ternary diagrams of glass formation.
About 3,500 ternary diagrams of glass formation available in graphic form. To see them, select Glass formation in one of the Properties boxes and Ternary in the Systems box of the Tables search interface.
  • Property Calculations.
Over 100 computational methods to compute the properties in 15 groups (e.g., viscosity, density, mechanical, optical), many of them in broad temperature ranges. Prediction of properties of oxide, halide, and chalcogenide glasses is possible in wide concentration ranges.
  • Patent Index.
About 12,000 international patents (those containing both glass composition description and property values); complete information on usage, country, company, composition, and property table.
  • Chemical Durability of Glasses.
Pertinent data on 10,000 glasses on the "how and what" in accessing chemical durability as well as access to a large compendium of standards and norms on durability testing methods and procedures
